Sortation
Cross-Belt Sorters
Control software for high-density cross-belt sortation — precise, deterministic discharge across hundreds of destinations at speed.
The challenge
Cross-belt sorters move at speed and never stop. Every item riding a carrier has to be tracked continuously and discharged into exactly the right destination at exactly the right moment — with no gap for error. As destination counts and line speed climb, the control problem stops being about mechanics and becomes about timing: keeping every carrier, every item and every divert perfectly synchronised in real time.
What we build
We develop the bespoke control software that runs the sorter: carrier tracking, induction sequencing, destination assignment, and discharge timing tuned to your machine and your throughput targets. The logic is built around how your operation actually runs — the destinations you sort to, the induction points you feed from, and the recirculation and exception handling you need when a discharge can't complete.
The technology
The software runs on deterministic, real-time control platforms, so timing is repeatable cycle after cycle rather than best-effort. Carrier position is maintained continuously, so discharge decisions stay accurate at full line speed, and the system scales from a single controller to multi-controller architectures as the sorter grows.
Why it matters
High-density sortation only pays off if every item lands in the right place, first time, at speed. Deterministic control is what turns a fast belt into a reliable sorter — sustained accuracy under peak load, not just on a good day.
